Scope of Works:

•  Fabricate DN450 stainless steel aeration pipe spools;
•  Fabricate DN300 stainless steel aeration pipe spools;
• Tie in/install new spools in to existing blower pipe & valves; - Install spools along aeration tanks & under  roadway; and
• Work in with other contractors to complete installation. 

Challenges

• Source large diameter stainless steel pipe to meet the project deadline;
• Focus on flange orientation to line up with existing valves & outlets on aeration tanks;
• Focus on safety for moving/installing of large diameter pipe;
• Field fit & welding pipe spools to tie in with exiting outlets under roadway & in trenches; 
• All welding/fabrication and test plans required to local utiity standards;
• Pipe spool design changes for unforeseen clashes with underground services;
• Testing & commissioning aeration pipelines after installation; and
• All pipelines complete & online by local utiity deadline for normal plant operation. 

Outcome 

• All works completed safely and to local utiity standard;
• All fabrication & welding completed by qualified welders/fabricators;
• Regular discussions with client for unforeseen design changes;
• Future Group established mobile/site workshop to complete any pipe spool modifications to minimise lost time in transporting spool back to Future’s Cardiff workshop;
• Pipe spool & flanges fitted correctly as per designs & utility specifications;
• Commissioning & testing plan discussed and implemented in conjunction with head contractor/client;
• Safe operation procedure created and discussed with all workers/contractors for installing large pipes;
• Works completed on budget and before project deadline; and
• Quality management systems that were put in place by Future Group met all requirements for the project.
